XAUUSD pip calculator
An XAUUSD pip calculator gives the dollar value of one pip in gold for your lot size. One standard lot is usually 100 ounces, so a $1 move in gold is worth $100 per lot; the pip value depends on whether your broker counts a pip as a $0.01, $0.10 or $1 move.
Free tier: 2 accounts, no card required.
With a 100-ounce standard lot, a $1 move in XAUUSD is worth $100 per lot and $1 per 0.01 lot. If your broker counts a pip as $0.10, 1 pip is $10 per lot; if it counts $0.01, 1 pip is $1 per lot. At 0.1 lots a $5 move is $50 either way.

Quick answers
How much is 1 pip in gold?
1 pip in gold is $1 per standard lot if your broker defines a pip as a $0.01 move, or $10 per lot if it uses $0.10. Both assume 100 ounces per lot. The value of a $1 move, $100 per lot, does not change with the pip definition.
What is the pip value of XAUUSD?
Pip value of XAUUSD = ounces × pip size. At 0.1 lots (10 ounces) and a $0.10 pip: 10 × 0.10 = $1 per pip. At 1 lot (100 ounces): $10 per pip, or $1 with a $0.01 pip.
How do you do an XAUUSD pip calculation?
Multiply lots by 100 to get ounces, then multiply by the price move. 0.1 lots × 100 = 10 ounces; a $5 move × 10 = $50. Pips are the price move ÷ your broker's pip size: $5 ÷ 0.10 = 50 pips.

How it works
How gold pip value is calculated
- Lot size. 1 lot is 100 troy ounces at the brokers in our sources, so 0.1 lots is 10 ounces. Check yours in MT5: Market Watch, right-click the symbol, Specification, Contract size.
- Your broker's pip. Brokers do not agree. RoboMarkets and VT Markets define a gold pip as a $0.01 move; other brokers and guides count $0.10. Pick the one your broker uses.
- Price move. The dollar move in the gold price. P&L = ounces × move.
| Lots | $1 move | Pip = $0.10 | Pip = $0.01 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.01 | $1 | $0.10 | $0.01 |
| 0.1 | $10 | $1 | $0.10 |
| 1 | $100 | $10 | $1 |
Assumes a 100-ounce lot, as listed by the brokers in the sources as of November 2026.
Indices
US30 and NAS100 lot size
US30 (Dow Jones) and NAS100 (Nasdaq 100) CFDs have no single contract size. What 1 lot is worth per index point depends on the broker, so the gold numbers above do not carry over.
- Find the contract size. In MT5 open Market Watch, right-click US30 or NAS100, choose Specification and read Contract size.
- Value per point. Contract size × 1 point × lots. With a contract size of 1, 1 lot moves $1 a point; with 10, $10 a point.
- Lot size. Lots = money you want to risk ÷ (stop distance in points × value per point for 1 lot).

FAQ
Gold pip questions, answered.
Is a gold pip $0.01 or $0.10?
Both are in use. RoboMarkets and VT Markets define it as $0.01 (as of November 2026); other brokers and many guides use $0.10. The dollar P&L of a move is the same either way; only the pip count changes.
How many ounces are in 1 lot of XAUUSD?
100 troy ounces at RoboMarkets and VT Markets as of November 2026, and that is the usual size. Some brokers offer different sizes, so check Contract size in MT5's symbol Specification.
What is a gold pip calculator used for?
To size a trade: find what a pip or a $1 move is worth at your lot size, then set the lot so your stop loses no more than you planned.
Is this XAUUSD pip calculator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up.
Is Dusk Analyst really free?
Yes. The free tier costs $0 forever and includes two accounts, manual trade entry and CSV import - enough to journal a live account properly, with win rate, P&L and equity curve all calculated for you. There is no credit card required to start. Pro ($25/month flat) adds unlimited accounts, MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader auto-sync, AI insights on your trading (1,000 trade-analyses a month), monthly reports and full export, and every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card. The pricing is deliberately simple: one plan, one price, no per-feature upsells.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, and it needs no card. Every new Dusk Analyst account gets Pro free for 5 trading days from sign-up: auto-sync from MT4, MT5, cTrader and NinjaTrader 8, AI Insights with 1,000 credits, monthly reports and unlimited accounts. After that Pro is $25/month, and you can cancel anytime from Billing in the app. If you skip it, the account moves to Free with every trade kept.
Can I import my existing trade history?
Yes - CSV import is available on every plan, including free. If you've been tracking trades in a spreadsheet, broker export or another journal, export the CSV from wherever it lives and import it into Dusk Analyst; the journal matches it against your accounts and keeps your history continuous. Import is also the fallback for platforms that don't run MT4, MT5, cTrader or NinjaTrader 8. For MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader terminals, Pro auto-syncs going forward and the EA backfills any trades your terminal missed while it was off. Any platform that exports a CSV of your trade history works. Dusk Analyst recognises TradingView, Tradovate, cTrader, MT4 and MT5 exports on sight; for anything else you map your columns once and that parser is saved for next time. Comma, semicolon and tab files are all handled, day-first and month-first dates are detected from the file itself, and any row that cannot be read is listed for you rather than dropped quietly.
How many AI credits do I get with Dusk Analyst Pro?
Pro includes 1,000 AI trade-analyses every month. One credit covers one trade, so asking a question about a 40-trade week costs 40 credits and you can keep asking. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month and the counter sits in the top bar of the app, so you always know where you stand. Narrowing a question to one account or a shorter date range makes the same allowance go much further. Free accounts get a small number of AI credits to try AI Insights, alongside the full journal, analytics and weekly reports, and the free Pro week (5 trading days, no card) includes the full monthly allowance.
