Win rate calculator
A win rate calculator turns your winning and losing trades into a win loss percentage: wins ÷ (wins + losses). Add your average win and loss to see the win rate you need to break even and what each trade earns on average.
Free tier: 2 accounts, no card required.
Win rate is winning trades divided by winning plus losing trades, times 100. 27 wins and 23 losses is a 54% win rate. On its own it says little: with an average win of $120 and an average loss of $100 you break even at 45.5%, so 54% earns about $18.80 a trade.

Quick answers
What is a good win rate in trading?
A good win rate is any win rate above your breakeven win rate, which depends on your payoff. With winners twice the size of losers you only need 33.3% to break even; with winners half the size of losers you need 66.7%. A 40% win rate can be very good and a 70% win rate can lose money.
What is the average day trader win rate?
There is no reliable public figure for the average day trader's win rate. Brokers and studies publish how many accounts lose money, not the share of winning trades, and numbers quoted online are rarely sourced. Measure your own win rate from your trade history instead.
How do you calculate win loss percentage?
Win loss percentage is wins ÷ (wins + losses) × 100. 27 wins and 23 losses gives 27 ÷ 50 = 54%. The loss percentage is the rest, 46%.

How it works
How win rate is calculated
- Winning and losing trades. Count closed trades that made or lost money. Win rate = wins ÷ (wins + losses).
- Breakeven trades (optional). Trades that closed at $0 are left out of the win rate, so they neither help nor hurt it.
- Average win and loss (optional). With these the calculator adds your breakeven win rate, average loss ÷ (average win + average loss), and your expectancy per trade.
Win/loss ratio is a different number: wins ÷ losses. 27 wins and 23 losses is a 54% win rate but a 1.17 : 1 win/loss ratio.
Examples
What your win rate really means
Win rate vs win/loss ratio
Win rate is wins out of all decided trades (54%). Win/loss ratio compares wins to losses (27 : 23, or 1.17 : 1). Both come from the same counts, so be clear which one you mean.
Breakeven win rate
Breakeven win rate = average loss ÷ (average win + average loss). With a $120 average win and a $100 average loss it is 45.5%. Anything above that makes money before costs.
Breakeven trades
Add 5 breakeven trades to 27 wins and 23 losses: the calculator still shows 54%. Counting them as trades would give 27 ÷ 55 = 49.1%, which hides that your decided trades win more than they lose.
Use your real numbers
Get your win rate from your own trades
Guessed win rates are usually too high. Dusk Analyst works it out from your closed trades. Calculate this from your real trades: import your MT4/MT5 history on the Free plan, or auto-sync MT4, MT5, cTrader or NinjaTrader 8 on Pro.

FAQ
Win rate questions, answered.
Should breakeven trades count in win rate?
Most traders leave them out, which is what this calculator does: win rate = wins ÷ (wins + losses). If you count them as trades, your win rate falls even though nothing lost money. Whichever you choose, use the same rule every time.
Is a higher win rate always better?
No. A higher win rate often comes with smaller winners or wider stops. Judge win rate together with payoff: expectancy = win rate × average win − loss rate × average loss tells you what a trade earns on average.
What is the breakeven win rate formula?
Breakeven win rate = average loss ÷ (average win + average loss). In risk reward terms it is 1 ÷ (1 + R), where R is reward per 1 risked. At 1 : 2 that is 33.3%.
How many trades do I need for a reliable win rate?
More is better, and a few dozen trades can swing a lot by luck. Treat a win rate from under 50 trades as a rough guide and keep measuring as you trade.
Is this win rate calculator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up, and your numbers are not sent anywhere.
Is Dusk Analyst really free?
Yes. The free tier costs $0 forever and includes two accounts, manual trade entry and CSV import - enough to journal a live account properly, with win rate, P&L and equity curve all calculated for you. There is no credit card required to start. Pro ($25/month flat) adds unlimited accounts, MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader auto-sync, AI insights on your trading (1,000 trade-analyses a month), monthly reports and full export, and every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card. The pricing is deliberately simple: one plan, one price, no per-feature upsells.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, and it needs no card. Every new Dusk Analyst account gets Pro free for 5 trading days from sign-up: auto-sync from MT4, MT5, cTrader and NinjaTrader 8, AI Insights with 1,000 credits, monthly reports and unlimited accounts. After that Pro is $25/month, and you can cancel anytime from Billing in the app. If you skip it, the account moves to Free with every trade kept.
Can I import my existing trade history?
Yes - CSV import is available on every plan, including free. If you've been tracking trades in a spreadsheet, broker export or another journal, export the CSV from wherever it lives and import it into Dusk Analyst; the journal matches it against your accounts and keeps your history continuous. Import is also the fallback for platforms that don't run MT4, MT5, cTrader or NinjaTrader 8. For MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader terminals, Pro auto-syncs going forward and the EA backfills any trades your terminal missed while it was off. Any platform that exports a CSV of your trade history works. Dusk Analyst recognises TradingView, Tradovate, cTrader, MT4 and MT5 exports on sight; for anything else you map your columns once and that parser is saved for next time. Comma, semicolon and tab files are all handled, day-first and month-first dates are detected from the file itself, and any row that cannot be read is listed for you rather than dropped quietly.
How many AI credits do I get with Dusk Analyst Pro?
Pro includes 1,000 AI trade-analyses every month. One credit covers one trade, so asking a question about a 40-trade week costs 40 credits and you can keep asking. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month and the counter sits in the top bar of the app, so you always know where you stand. Narrowing a question to one account or a shorter date range makes the same allowance go much further. Free accounts get a small number of AI credits to try AI Insights, alongside the full journal, analytics and weekly reports, and the free Pro week (5 trading days, no card) includes the full monthly allowance.
