NinjaTrader commission tracking
NinjaTrader trade journal with commission tracking
Dusk Analyst is a NinjaTrader trade journal that tracks commission: a read-only NinjaTrader 8 add-on sends every closed trade with its commission, and your P&L, win rate and profit factor are worked out net of fees. No CSV exports, no fee spreadsheet.
NinjaTrader auto-sync is part of Pro ($25/month). Every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card; add a card to extend it to 15 trading days free.
Dusk Analyst is a NinjaTrader trade journal with commission tracking: a read-only NinjaTrader 8 add-on sends each closed trade with the commission NinjaTrader reports (or your per-contract, per-side rate when it reports none), and P&L is net of commission. Pro, $25/month, free for 5 trading days with no card.

Quick answers
How does NinjaTrader commission per contract work?
Futures commission is usually quoted per contract, per side: you pay it once when you enter and once when you exit, so a round turn is 2 sides. Your total is rate x contracts x 2. Your broker sets the rate, and some quotes include exchange and NFA fees while others add them on top, so check your own statement.
What is the commission on MNQ, ES and NQ in NinjaTrader?
It depends on your broker and plan, so here are worked examples at made-up rates, not anyone's fee schedule. MNQ at $0.50 per side, 4 contracts: $0.50 x 4 x 2 = $4.00 a round turn. ES at $2.00 per side, 1 contract: $2.00 x 1 x 2 = $4.00. NQ at $2.00 per side, 2 contracts: $2.00 x 2 x 2 = $8.00. A 10-tick MNQ win of $20 on 4 contracts nets $16 after that $4.
How does Dusk Analyst record NinjaTrader commission?
The NinjaTrader 8 add-on adds up the commission NinjaTrader reports on every entry and exit fill of a trade. When the connection reports none (Sim accounts, some brokers), it uses the commission per contract, per side you set in the add-on, times contracts, times 2 sides. P&L in the journal is net of that commission.
Do I have to give my NinjaTrader or broker password?
No. Dusk Analyst never asks for your NinjaTrader, broker or investor password. Trades are sent by the read-only add-on running in your own NinjaTrader 8, so nothing logs in to your account from our servers.

How it works
Commission on every trade, automatically
- From NinjaTrader first. The add-on adds up the commission NinjaTrader reports on each entry and exit fill.
- Your rate as a fallback. When the connection reports none (Sim accounts, some brokers), it uses your commission per contract, per side: contracts × rate on the way in and on the way out.
- Net P&L. P&L is (exit − entry) × quantity × point value, minus commission. The commission is stored with the trade, so both figures stay visible.
- One trade per round trip. Partial fills are totalled into one flat-to-flat trade per instrument, so a scaled position is one row with its full cost.
In your journal
See what the fees take
Every report in Dusk Analyst uses net P&L, so commission shows up where it hurts.
- Daily and weekly P&L after commission, on the calendar and in weekly reports.
- Win rate and profit factor per setup tag, net of fees, so a scalp that only wins gross stands out.
- Trade count by day, to see how much overtrading costs in commission.
- Demo, evaluation and funded accounts in separate account books, each with its own key.

No password needed
Dusk Analyst never asks for your broker password or investor password, and nothing logs into your account from our servers. Data is stored on Cloudflare, identity is handled by Auth0, billing by Stripe, and the AI that answers your insight questions comes from a third-party AI provider that receives only the trades you ask about. On NinjaTrader 8, a read-only add-on runs inside your own NinjaTrader and sends only closed trades, using a per-account API key. How it works.

NinjaTrader commissions explained
NinjaTrader charges futures commission per contract, per side: once when you enter and once when you exit. A round turn is 2 sides, so 1 contract in and out costs 2 × the rate. Micro contracts (MES, MNQ, MGC) have a lower rate than standard e-mini contracts (ES, NQ). Its published rates as of November 2026:
| Plan | Plan price | Micros, per side | Standard, per side |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0.39 | $1.29 |
| Monthly | $99/month | $0.29 | $0.99 |
| Lifetime | $1,499 once | $0.09 | $0.59 |
- MES example. 1 MES round turn on the Free plan is 2 × $0.39 = $0.78 in commission. 1 ES round turn is 2 × $1.29 = $2.58.
- Exchange, clearing and NFA fees are extra. NinjaTrader's pricing page says these apply on top of the commission, so your statement shows a higher total than the rate alone.
- Commission templates in NinjaTrader 8. Sim and playback accounts only show commission if you set one: build a template under Control Center, Tools, Commissions, then pick it in the account's Edit Account settings. It applies to trades placed after you set it.
- In Dusk Analyst. The add-on uses the commission NinjaTrader reports on each fill. If there is none, it uses your own per-contract, per-side rate. For what each tick is worth, see futures tick value.
Tradovate
Tradovate commissions
Tradovate publishes the same per-side rates as of November 2026: Free $0.39 on micros and $1.29 on standard contracts, Monthly ($99/month) $0.29 and $0.99, Lifetime ($1,499) $0.09 and $0.59. Its pricing page also says exchange, clearing and NFA fees still apply. Comparing the two platforms? Read NinjaTrader vs Tradovate. Track every fill's commission automatically: auto-sync NinjaTrader 8 on Pro, or import your trades on the Free plan.

FAQ
NinjaTrader commission questions, answered.
Which NinjaTrader trade journal tracks commission?
Dusk Analyst does: its NinjaTrader 8 add-on sends each closed trade with its commission, and P&L in the journal is net of commission. Win rate, profit factor and your daily P&L are all worked out from net results, so commission-heavy scalping shows up as it really is.
Does the journal show gross or net P&L for NinjaTrader trades?
Net. Each synced trade carries its commission as a separate figure, and the P&L is gross P&L minus that commission. You can see both what the market paid and what the fees took.
What if my NinjaTrader connection does not report commission?
Sim accounts and some connections report zero commission. In the add-on's settings, type your commission per contract, per side (for example 2.09); the add-on then charges it for every contract on the entry and exit. When NinjaTrader does report commission, its own figure is used instead.
How are partial fills counted?
A trade is one flat-to-flat round trip per instrument, so many partial fills become one trade with average entry and exit prices. Commission is summed over all of those fills, so a 10-lot scaled in and out in pieces still shows its full cost.
Why does commission matter so much for futures traders?
On micro contracts a round-trip fee can be a large share of a small target, so a strategy that looks profitable gross can lose money net. Tracking commission per trade shows which setups still pay after fees, and how much overtrading costs you each week.
Does it work with NinjaTrader web or mobile?
No. The add-on is a NinjaScript add-on, so it runs only in NinjaTrader 8 desktop on Windows. If you trade only on NinjaTrader's web or mobile apps, import a CSV of your trades or log them by hand instead.
Is NinjaTrader auto-sync free?
NinjaTrader auto-sync is part of Pro, which costs $25/month. Every new Dusk Analyst account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card, then it is $25/month unless you cancel. The Free plan ($0 forever) covers manual entry and CSV import for up to 2 accounts, without the add-on.
What is the NinjaTrader commission per contract?
As of November 2026, NinjaTrader lists $1.29 per side on standard contracts and $0.39 per side on micros on its Free plan, $0.99 and $0.29 on Monthly, and $0.59 and $0.09 on Lifetime. You pay it on entry and on exit. Exchange, clearing and NFA fees are extra.
What are NinjaTrader's micro futures commissions?
As of November 2026, micros and e-nano contracts cost $0.39 per side on the Free plan, $0.29 on Monthly ($99/month) and $0.09 on Lifetime ($1,499), per NinjaTrader's pricing page. Exchange, clearing and NFA fees are added on top.
What is the MES commission on NinjaTrader?
MES is a micro, so as of November 2026 it is $0.39 per side on the Free plan: $0.78 for 1 contract in and out, before exchange, clearing and NFA fees. On Monthly it is $0.29 per side, on Lifetime $0.09.
What fees and commissions does NinjaTrader charge?
Two parts: NinjaTrader's commission per contract, per side (set by your plan), plus exchange, clearing and NFA fees that NinjaTrader says apply on top. The plans as of November 2026 are Free ($0), Monthly ($99/month) and Lifetime ($1,499 once).
What are Tradovate commissions?
As of November 2026, Tradovate lists $1.29 per side on standard futures and $0.39 on micros on its Free plan, $0.99 and $0.29 on Monthly ($99/month), and $0.59 and $0.09 on Lifetime ($1,499). Exchange, clearing and NFA fees still apply.
Does NinjaTrader have a built-in trading journal?
NinjaTrader has a history and trade report view that shows your past trades and some statistics, but that's not a trading journal in the review sense: it doesn't capture your entry reason, notes, emotional state or the context around each trade, and it doesn't track your journaling habits over time. A dedicated journal like Dusk Analyst stores the trade data and lets you layer review notes, tags and analysis on top, then report on win rate, profit factor, P&L and equity curve - the metrics that actually improve decisions. If you want the terminal's data without the manual copying, Dusk Analyst's EA reads the closed-trade history and syncs it automatically on Pro.
How do I export my NinjaTrader trade history?
Every NinjaTrader terminal keeps a closed-trade history in its Account History view, and that data can be exported to a file for import elsewhere. Save the history as a report or CSV (the fields are standard: time, ticket, symbol, volume, price, commission, swap, profit), then import the file into Dusk Analyst on any plan - the free tier includes CSV import. On Pro you don't even need to export: the Dusk Analyst EA reads the same history automatically and pushes each close as it happens, including catch-up for periods the terminal was off.
Is there a free NinjaTrader trading journal?
Yes - Dusk Analyst's free tier is $0 forever and works with NinjaTrader: two accounts, manual entry and CSV import, with win rate, profit factor, P&L and equity curve calculated for you. That's a genuinely usable free journal, not a trial. If you want every closed NinjaTrader trade to sync itself, Pro adds the read-only EA at a flat $25/month with unlimited accounts and AI insights, and every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days, no card.
Will the Dusk Analyst EA slow down my NinjaTrader terminal?
No - the EA is deliberately light. It's a single read-only file that does two things: it watches for closed trades in the account history and it sends them over HTTPS with your per-account API key. It never places orders, never repaints charts and doesn't interfere with your indicators or other EAs; it runs on its own chart window, following the usual one-EA-per-chart convention. The network call is a few kilobytes per closed trade, so even on a slow connection there's no noticeable impact on the terminal or your execution.
Is Dusk Analyst really free?
Yes. The free tier costs $0 forever and includes two accounts, manual trade entry and CSV import - enough to journal a live account properly, with win rate, P&L and equity curve all calculated for you. There is no credit card required to start. Pro ($25/month flat) adds unlimited accounts, MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader auto-sync, AI insights on your trading (1,000 trade-analyses a month), monthly reports and full export, and every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card. The pricing is deliberately simple: one plan, one price, no per-feature upsells.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, and it needs no card. Every new Dusk Analyst account gets Pro free for 5 trading days from sign-up: auto-sync from MT4, MT5, cTrader and NinjaTrader 8, AI Insights with 1,000 credits, monthly reports and unlimited accounts. After that Pro is $25/month, and you can cancel anytime from Billing in the app. If you skip it, the account moves to Free with every trade kept.
Can I import my existing trade history?
Yes - CSV import is available on every plan, including free. If you've been tracking trades in a spreadsheet, broker export or another journal, export the CSV from wherever it lives and import it into Dusk Analyst; the journal matches it against your accounts and keeps your history continuous. Import is also the fallback for platforms that don't run MT4, MT5, cTrader or NinjaTrader 8. For MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader terminals, Pro auto-syncs going forward and the EA backfills any trades your terminal missed while it was off. Any platform that exports a CSV of your trade history works. Dusk Analyst recognises TradingView, Tradovate, cTrader, MT4 and MT5 exports on sight; for anything else you map your columns once and that parser is saved for next time. Comma, semicolon and tab files are all handled, day-first and month-first dates are detected from the file itself, and any row that cannot be read is listed for you rather than dropped quietly.
How many AI credits do I get with Dusk Analyst Pro?
Pro includes 1,000 AI trade-analyses every month. One credit covers one trade, so asking a question about a 40-trade week costs 40 credits and you can keep asking. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month and the counter sits in the top bar of the app, so you always know where you stand. Narrowing a question to one account or a shorter date range makes the same allowance go much further. Free accounts get a small number of AI credits to try AI Insights, alongside the full journal, analytics and weekly reports, and the free Pro week (5 trading days, no card) includes the full monthly allowance.
