A NinjaTrader trading journal built for futures, strategy and funded accounts.

NinjaTrader handles the execution and the strategy files. Dusk Analyst handles the record: contracts, R-multiples, sessions and rules — reviewed weekly, not reconstructed at payout time.

Free tier: 2 accounts, no card required.

Watch a trade log itself.

A real MetaTrader terminal. Close the trade, open Dusk Analyst, and it’s already there: symbol, direction, entry, exit and P&L. Nothing to export, nothing to type, nothing forgotten.

Why it matters

Why futures traders need a record they can actually review

Futures move fast and so do your sessions. Without a structured record, the edge in your strategy files stays invisible in your history.

Push, don't type

On Free, log trades manually or import a CSV from your broker to backfill. If you also trade MT4, MT5 or cTrader terminals, Pro auto-sync pushes every closed trade in via a free EA or cBot — no copy-pasting from the Strategies tab.

What to track

Contract, entry, exit, size, R-multiple, session, the strategy behind the trade, tags and notes — the record you need when a consistency rule or payout review comes due.

Review weekly

Weekly report export shows win rate, profit factor and where losses cluster, and you can track demo, live and funded accounts side by side. The Free tier covers two accounts with manual entry, CSV import, tags, calendars, core analytics and weekly report export at $0. Pro at $25 per month adds unlimited accounts, auto-sync, AI insights and full export.

FAQ

NinjaTrader journaling questions, answered.

How do I journal my NinjaTrader trades?

Log trades manually or import a CSV from your broker or platform — both work at $0 on the Free tier, which covers two accounts with manual entry, CSV import, tags, calendars, core analytics and weekly report export. Once in, trades get the same analytics and weekly reports as every other account. If you also execute through MT4, MT5 or cTrader terminals, Pro at $25 per month adds auto-sync, AI insights and unlimited accounts. In our 2026 audit we checked 356 brokers and prop firms one by one against their own sites, and the brokers table on our home page shows the evidence for each one.

Does NinjaTrader have a built-in trading journal?

NinjaTrader is built for charting, execution and strategy development — it does not include a structured journal with win rate, profit factor and weekly performance reports. Dusk Analyst gives you that structure: entries, exits, size, the strategy behind the trade, tags and notes, rolled up into analytics, calendars and weekly report export. Free covers two accounts with manual entry and CSV import; Pro at $25 per month adds unlimited accounts, auto-sync for MT4, MT5 and cTrader, AI insights and full export.

Can a NinjaTrader journal track funded prop accounts?

Yes. Dusk Analyst lets you track demo, live and funded accounts side by side, so you can see how your evaluation and funded performance compare without mixing them together. When a consistency rule or payout review comes due, the record of every contract, entry and exit is already there. Our 2026 audit checked 356 brokers and prop firms one by one against their own sites, and the brokers table on our home page shows the evidence for each one. The journal never sees your broker password or login credentials; only your closed trades and the account nickname leave the terminal. Data is stored on Cloudflare, identity is handled by Auth0, billing by Stripe, and the AI that answers your insight questions runs on DeepSeek.

What should a futures trading journal track?

Track the contract, entry, exit, size, R-multiple, session, the strategy behind the trade, and one honest note about whether you followed your plan. That structure is what makes review possible: with it you can see which setups produce your edge and where execution slips cost you. Dusk Analyst stores all of it per trade and rolls it up into performance analytics, calendars and weekly report export. Data is stored on Cloudflare, identity is handled by Auth0, billing by Stripe, and the AI that answers your insight questions runs on DeepSeek. No credit card is required for Free, there are no setup fees, and you can cancel in one click.

Is a paid trading journal worth it for NinjaTrader traders?

A journal that computes win rate, profit factor and strategy breakdowns beats a diary when you are hunting for an edge, and that is what a paid tool adds over a spreadsheet. In 2026 the price of a good trading journal is roughly $25 to $99 per month, and Dusk Analyst sits at the low end at $25 with a free tier underneath — two accounts with manual entry, CSV import, tags, calendars, core analytics and weekly report export at $0.

How do I export my NinjaTrader trade history?

Every NinjaTrader terminal keeps a closed-trade history in its Account History view, and that data can be exported to a file for import elsewhere. Save the history as a report or CSV (the fields are standard: time, ticket, symbol, volume, price, commission, swap, profit), then import the file into Dusk Analyst on any plan - the free tier includes CSV import. On Pro you don't even need to export: the Dusk Analyst EA reads the same history automatically and pushes each close as it happens, including catch-up for periods the terminal was off.

Is there a free NinjaTrader trading journal?

Yes - Dusk Analyst's free tier is $0 forever and works with NinjaTrader: two accounts, manual entry and CSV import, with win rate, expectancy, drawdown and equity curve calculated for you. That's a genuinely usable free journal, not a trial. If you want every closed NinjaTrader trade to sync itself, Pro adds the read-only EA at a flat $25/month with unlimited accounts and AI insights, and has a free trial of up to 30 days (card required).

Will the Dusk Analyst EA slow down my NinjaTrader terminal?

No - the EA is deliberately light. It's a single read-only file that does two things: it watches for closed trades in the account history and it sends them over HTTPS with your per-account API key. It never places orders, never repaints charts and doesn't interfere with your indicators or other EAs; it runs on its own chart window, following the usual one-EA-per-chart convention. The network call is a few kilobytes per closed trade, so even on a slow connection there's no noticeable impact on the terminal or your execution.

How long does Dusk Analyst auto-sync take to set up on NinjaTrader?

About two minutes, end to end. Create your account (free tier is fine to start), open the connectors panel and copy your per-account API key, then attach the Dusk Analyst EA to a chart in NinjaTrader and paste the key. The moment a trade closes, it appears in your journal. If your terminal was off when a trade closed, the EA catches up automatically on its next run, so nothing goes missing.

Is Dusk Analyst really free?

Yes. The free tier costs $0 forever and includes two accounts, manual trade entry and CSV import - enough to journal a live account properly, with win rate, expectancy, drawdown and equity curve all calculated for you. There is no credit card required to start. Pro ($25/month flat) adds unlimited accounts, MT4/MT5/cTrader auto-sync, AI insights on your trading (1,000 trade-analyses a month), monthly reports and full export, and has a free trial of up to 30 days (card required). The pricing is deliberately simple: one plan, one price, no per-feature upsells.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Dusk Analyst Pro has a free trial of up to 30 days: 30 days if you start it within an hour of signing up, 15 days within 24 hours. A card is required to start it, nothing is charged on the day it starts, and when the trial ends Pro is $25/month unless you cancel. We email you a reminder before the trial ends. You can cancel anytime from Billing in the app; cancelling during the trial ends it straight away, nothing is charged, and your account goes back to the Free plan with every trade kept. There is one trial per account. The trial includes everything in Pro: MT4, MT5 and cTrader auto-sync, monthly reports, unlimited account books, 1,000 AI credits a month for AI Insights and CSV export. Start it in the app at app.duskanalyst.com, where it is offered whenever you open a Pro feature such as Connectors, and from the plan card in the sidebar. The Free plan is separate: it needs no card and stays free forever.

Can I import my existing trade history?

Yes - CSV import is available on every plan, including free. If you've been tracking trades in a spreadsheet, broker export or another journal, export the CSV from wherever it lives and import it into Dusk Analyst; the journal matches it against your accounts and keeps your history continuous. Import is also the fallback for platforms that don't run MT4, MT5 or cTrader. For MT4/MT5/cTrader terminals, Pro auto-syncs going forward and the EA backfills any trades your terminal missed while it was off. Any platform that exports a CSV of your trade history works. Dusk Analyst recognises TradingView, Tradovate, cTrader, MT4 and MT5 exports on sight; for anything else you map your columns once and that parser is saved for next time. Comma, semicolon and tab files are all handled, day-first and month-first dates are detected from the file itself, and any row that cannot be read is listed for you rather than dropped quietly.

How many AI credits do I get with Dusk Analyst Pro?

Pro includes 1,000 AI trade-analyses every month. One credit covers one trade, so asking a question about a 40-trade week costs 40 credits and you can keep asking. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month and the counter sits in the top bar of the app, so you always know where you stand. Narrowing a question to one account or a shorter date range makes the same allowance go much further. Free accounts get a small number of AI credits to try AI Insights, alongside the full journal, analytics and weekly reports, and Pro's free trial (up to 30 days) includes the full monthly allowance.
