Free prop firm calculator
Consistency rule calculator
A consistency rule calculator tells you what share of your profit came from your best day, and whether that passes your prop firm's limit. Pick the rule, enter your total profit and your best single day, and it shows how much more profit you need if you are over.
Free tier: 2 accounts, no card required.
A consistency rule caps how much of your total profit can come from one day. Divide your best day by your total profit. As of November 2026, Topstep allows up to 55% to pass the Trading Combine and 40% for an Express Funded payout, and FTMO 1-Step allows 50%. A $1,400 best day on $3,000 profit is 46.7%.

Quick answers
How do you calculate the consistency rule?
Divide your best single day of profit by your total profit. Topstep writes it as Best Day Profit ÷ Total Profit = Best Day %. If your best day is $1,400 and your total profit is $3,000, your best day is 46.7% of your profit, which passes a 50% or 55% rule but fails a 40% rule.
What is the Topstep consistency rule?
As of November 2026, Topstep has two. In the Trading Combine, your best day must stay at or below 55% of your profit, or your Profit Target goes up. In an Express Funded Account, your largest day must be 40% or less of total net profit to be eligible for a payout, and it resets after each payout.
Does FTMO have a consistency rule?
Yes, on some products. As of November 2026, the FTMO Challenge 1-Step and its FTMO Account require your best day to be no more than 50% of total profit, and the FTMO Instant Account uses 30%. FTMO's Trading Objectives page lists no consistency rule for the 2-Step Challenge.

By firm
Consistency rules by prop firm
Taken from each firm's own help pages, as of November 2026. Rules change, so check the linked page before you request a payout.
| Firm and account | Rule | When it counts |
|---|---|---|
| Topstep Trading Combine | Best day at or below 55% of profit | To pass. Going over raises your Profit Target to best day ÷ 0.55. |
| Topstep Express Funded Account | Largest day 40% or less of total net profit | To be payout eligible. Resets to $0 after a payout request. |
| FTMO Challenge 1-Step and its FTMO Account | Best day no more than 50% of total profit | To pass the Challenge and to be eligible for a Reward. |
| FTMO Instant Account | Best day no more than 30% of total profit | Before a Reward. Total profit restarts from zero after a withdrawal. |
| FTMO Challenge 2-Step | No consistency rule listed | FTMO's Trading Objectives page lists none for 2-Step. |
Apex Trader Funding and other futures firms also publish consistency rules for payouts. We could not load Apex's help centre when we checked, so we have not listed a number: check Apex's help centre for the rule on your account type. FTMO accounts started from orders before 12 October 2026 use FTMO's older Best Day Rule, which compares your best day with profit from positive days only. More on FTMO in FTMO rules explained.
Examples
How the consistency rule works in practice
Under the limit
Topstep's own example: on a $50K Combine, a $1,600 best day out of $3,000 profit is 53.3%. That is under 55%, so it meets the target.
Over the limit
A $1,800 best day on $3,000 profit is 60%. Under a 55% rule your total must reach $1,800 ÷ 0.55 = $3,272.73, so you need $272.73 more, made on other days.
Payout check
A $3,600 largest day on $9,500 total net profit is 37.9%. That passes Topstep's 40% Express Funded rule. At $3,000 profit with a $1,400 best day (46.7%), you would need $3,500 total, or $500 more.
Payouts
Consistency rules and your payout
Passing the consistency rule makes a payout possible. The profit split decides how much of the profit you keep. As of November 2026, FTMO pays a Reward of 90% of simulated profit on 1-Step and Instant accounts, and 80% by default on 2-Step accounts, rising to 90% under its Scaling Plan or Premium Programme. On $9,000 of profit, that is $8,100 at 90% or $7,200 at 80%.
- Check the rule. Best day ÷ total profit must be at or under your firm's limit.
- Fix it on other days. If you are over, more profit on a different day brings the share down. A bigger day makes it worse.
- Apply the split. Profit × your split = what you receive, before any fees your firm lists.
Use your real numbers
Find your best day from your own trades
Dusk Analyst shows your P&L day by day, so you can read off your best day and your total profit and check them against your firm's rule yourself. It does not track prop firm rules or warn you before you break one: your firm's dashboard is the place for that. Calculate this from your real trades: import your MT4/MT5 history on the Free plan, or auto-sync MT4, MT5, cTrader or NinjaTrader 8 on Pro.

FAQ
Consistency rule questions, answered.
What happens if I break the consistency rule?
It depends on the firm. At Topstep, going over 55% in the Trading Combine raises your Profit Target, and going over 40% in an Express Funded Account means you are not payout eligible yet. At FTMO, a 1-Step account does not pass, and an FTMO Account is not eligible for a Reward, until your best day is 50% or less of total profit.
Do losing days count in the consistency rule?
Losses lower your total profit, which makes your best day a bigger share. For FTMO accounts started on or after 12 October 2026, FTMO measures against total profit; older FTMO accounts compare the best day with profit from positive days only.
How do I fix a failed consistency rule?
Make more profit on other days. Use the calculator: it shows the total profit you need, which is your best day divided by the limit. A $2,500 best day under a 50% rule needs $5,000 total profit.
Is a prop firm payout calculator the same thing?
Not quite. A payout calculator multiplies your profit by the split, such as 80% or 90%. The consistency rule decides whether you can request that payout at all. Check both.
Is this consistency rule calculator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, with no sign-up. Your numbers are not sent anywhere.
Is Dusk Analyst really free?
Yes. The free tier costs $0 forever and includes two accounts, manual trade entry and CSV import - enough to journal a live account properly, with win rate, P&L and equity curve all calculated for you. There is no credit card required to start. Pro ($25/month flat) adds unlimited accounts, MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader auto-sync, AI insights on your trading (1,000 trade-analyses a month), monthly reports and full export, and every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card. The pricing is deliberately simple: one plan, one price, no per-feature upsells.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, and it needs no card. Every new Dusk Analyst account gets Pro free for 5 trading days from sign-up: auto-sync from MT4, MT5, cTrader and NinjaTrader 8, AI Insights with 1,000 credits, monthly reports and unlimited accounts. After that Pro is $25/month, and you can cancel anytime from Billing in the app. If you skip it, the account moves to Free with every trade kept.
Can I import my existing trade history?
Yes - CSV import is available on every plan, including free. If you've been tracking trades in a spreadsheet, broker export or another journal, export the CSV from wherever it lives and import it into Dusk Analyst; the journal matches it against your accounts and keeps your history continuous. Import is also the fallback for platforms that don't run MT4, MT5, cTrader or NinjaTrader 8. For MT4/MT5/cTrader/NinjaTrader terminals, Pro auto-syncs going forward and the EA backfills any trades your terminal missed while it was off. Any platform that exports a CSV of your trade history works. Dusk Analyst recognises TradingView, Tradovate, cTrader, MT4 and MT5 exports on sight; for anything else you map your columns once and that parser is saved for next time. Comma, semicolon and tab files are all handled, day-first and month-first dates are detected from the file itself, and any row that cannot be read is listed for you rather than dropped quietly.
How many AI credits do I get with Dusk Analyst Pro?
Pro includes 1,000 AI trade-analyses every month. One credit covers one trade, so asking a question about a 40-trade week costs 40 credits and you can keep asking. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month and the counter sits in the top bar of the app, so you always know where you stand. Narrowing a question to one account or a shorter date range makes the same allowance go much further. Free accounts get a small number of AI credits to try AI Insights, alongside the full journal, analytics and weekly reports, and the free Pro week (5 trading days, no card) includes the full monthly allowance.
