MT4 auto-sync setup

How to connect MT4 to Dusk Analyst (auto-sync setup)

To connect MT4 to Dusk Analyst, download the Dusk Analyst Expert Advisor from your dashboard, allow WebRequest for https://duskanalyst.com in MT4 (Tools, Options, Expert Advisors), attach the EA to any chart and paste your account's API key. Every closed trade then logs itself.

Auto-sync is part of Pro ($25/month). Every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card, so you can connect and test it before paying anything. Add a card to extend it to 15 trading days free; nothing is charged until those end.

26 seconds

Watch a trade log itself.

A real MetaTrader terminal. Close the trade, open Dusk Analyst, and it’s already there: symbol, direction, entry, exit and P&L. Nothing to export, nothing to type, nothing forgotten.

Auto-sync is on Pro. The free plan imports your history files.

Your account stays yours

No investor password needed

Dusk Analyst never asks for your broker password or investor password, and nothing logs into your account from our servers. On MT4, MT5 and cTrader, a read-only EA or cBot runs in your own terminal and sends only closed trades, using a per-account API key. How it works.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Dusk Analyst account (sign up at app.duskanalyst.com). Auto-sync is on Pro, and new accounts get Pro free for 5 trading days with no card.
  • The MetaTrader 4 desktop terminal on Windows, logged in to the trading account you want to journal.
  • About 5 minutes, on the computer you trade on.

Step by step

Connect MT4 in 9 steps

The same steps appear in the app: open Connectors in the sidebar, or press the ? on the connector card.

  1. Sign in and add a connector. At app.duskanalyst.com, open the account book you want to sync. Under Connectors on the Dashboard, click Add Connector and choose MetaTrader 4.
  2. Download the EA. On the MetaTrader 4 connector card, click Download Expert Advisor. You get dusk-analyst-ea-mt4.ex4.
  3. Allow WebRequest. In MetaTrader 4, open Tools, then Options. In the Expert Advisors tab, tick Allow DLL imports and Allow WebRequest for listed URL, add https://duskanalyst.com to the URL list, then click OK.
  4. Open the data folder. In MetaTrader 4, open File, then Open Data Folder.
  5. Install the EA. In the data folder, open MQL4, then Experts, and drop in dusk-analyst-ea-mt4.ex4.
  6. Attach it to any chart. In the Navigator panel on the left, expand Expert Advisors and drag dusk-analyst-ea-mt4 onto any chart. Any symbol works, and the EA syncs trades from every pair.
  7. Allow DLL imports. In the EA settings pop-up, go to the Common tab and tick Allow DLL imports and Allow import of external experts.
  8. Paste your API key. In Dusk Analyst, press Copy next to the API key on the Dashboard connector card. Back in MetaTrader 4, open the EA's Inputs tab, paste the key and click OK.
  9. Keep the terminal running. Your past closed trades arrive within about a minute, and every new trade logs itself when it closes. If MT4 was closed, the EA backfills what it missed next time it runs.

Not syncing?

Troubleshooting

If nothing arrives after a few minutes, check these in order.

  • WebRequest not allowed. Open Tools, Options, Expert Advisors and check that Allow WebRequest for listed URL is ticked and https://duskanalyst.com is in the list. This is the step people miss.
  • DLL imports off. In the EA's Common tab, tick Allow DLL imports and Allow import of external experts.
  • EA not on a chart. The EA must be attached to a chart (any chart, any symbol) in a terminal that stays running.
  • Partial API key. Paste the whole key from the connector card into the EA's Inputs tab, with no spaces.
  • Wrong account book. Each account book has its own API key. Trades land in the book whose key you pasted.
  • Check the connector card. On your Dashboard, each connector shows when it last synced, or Never synced if it has not reported in yet.
  • Still stuck? Email support@duskanalyst.com with your platform and what you see. A person reads every reply.

Safety

What the EA can and cannot do

  • Read-only. The EA and cBot only read your closed trade history. They never place, modify or close orders, and never change your charts or indicators.
  • No broker password. Dusk Analyst never asks for your broker login. Trades are sent over HTTPS with a per-account API key; only your closed trades and the account nickname leave the terminal.
  • Official download only. The EA and cBot are only distributed from your Dusk Analyst dashboard. Do not install a file claiming to be Dusk Analyst from anywhere else.
  • Your API key is private. Treat it like a password. If you regenerate it, the old key stops working and you paste the new one into each platform.

FAQ

MT4 connection questions, answered.

How do I connect MT4 to Dusk Analyst?

Download the Dusk Analyst EA from the MetaTrader 4 connector card on your Dashboard, allow WebRequest for https://duskanalyst.com in Tools, Options, Expert Advisors, put the EA in the MQL4/Experts folder, attach it to any chart and paste your account's API key into its Inputs tab. Your closed trades then sync on their own.

Which URL do I add to the MT4 WebRequest list?

Add https://duskanalyst.com under Tools, Options, Expert Advisors, Allow WebRequest for listed URL. Without it, MT4 blocks the EA from sending trades.

Is the Dusk Analyst EA safe to run on my MT4 account?

Yes. The EA is read-only: it reads your closed trade history and sends it over HTTPS with a per-account API key. It never places, modifies or closes orders, and Dusk Analyst never asks for your broker password.

Is MT4 auto-sync free?

Auto-sync is part of Pro, which costs $25/month. Every new Dusk Analyst account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card, and adding a card keeps it free for 10 more trading days. The Free plan ($0 forever) covers manual entry and CSV import for up to 2 accounts, without a terminal connection.

Do my past MT4 trades come in too?

Yes. On first attach the EA sends your existing closed history, usually within a minute, then keeps up as trades close. If the terminal was off when a trade closed, it backfills what it missed the next time it runs.

Does it work with prop firm and demo MT4 accounts?

Yes. Demo, live and funded MT4 accounts all connect the same way. Each account book in Dusk Analyst has its own API key, so you can keep a challenge and a funded account apart. Prop firm pages such as FTMO and FundedNext list the platforms each firm offers.

Is Dusk Analyst really free?

Yes. The free tier costs $0 forever and includes two accounts, manual trade entry and CSV import - enough to journal a live account properly, with win rate, expectancy, drawdown and equity curve all calculated for you. There is no credit card required to start. Pro ($25/month flat) adds unlimited accounts, MT4/MT5/cTrader auto-sync, AI insights on your trading (1,000 trade-analyses a month), monthly reports and full export, and every new account gets Pro free for 5 trading days with no card. The pricing is deliberately simple: one plan, one price, no per-feature upsells.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, and it needs no card. Every new Dusk Analyst account gets Pro free for 5 trading days from sign-up: auto-sync from MT4, MT5 and cTrader, AI Insights with 1,000 credits, monthly reports and unlimited accounts. Add a card to keep it free for 10 more trading days; billing ($25/month) starts only after that, and you can cancel anytime from Billing in the app, with nothing charged.

Can I import my existing trade history?

Yes - CSV import is available on every plan, including free. If you've been tracking trades in a spreadsheet, broker export or another journal, export the CSV from wherever it lives and import it into Dusk Analyst; the journal matches it against your accounts and keeps your history continuous. Import is also the fallback for platforms that don't run MT4, MT5 or cTrader. For MT4/MT5/cTrader terminals, Pro auto-syncs going forward and the EA backfills any trades your terminal missed while it was off. Any platform that exports a CSV of your trade history works. Dusk Analyst recognises TradingView, Tradovate, cTrader, MT4 and MT5 exports on sight; for anything else you map your columns once and that parser is saved for next time. Comma, semicolon and tab files are all handled, day-first and month-first dates are detected from the file itself, and any row that cannot be read is listed for you rather than dropped quietly.

How many AI credits do I get with Dusk Analyst Pro?

Pro includes 1,000 AI trade-analyses every month. One credit covers one trade, so asking a question about a 40-trade week costs 40 credits and you can keep asking. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month and the counter sits in the top bar of the app, so you always know where you stand. Narrowing a question to one account or a shorter date range makes the same allowance go much further. Free accounts get a small number of AI credits to try AI Insights, alongside the full journal, analytics and weekly reports, and the free Pro week (5 trading days, no card) includes the full monthly allowance.
